As a Business Intelligence Specialist, you will be responsible for the design, realisation and management of information solutions. With your knowledge and skills involving business intelligence, you have the ability to convince the organisation to replace some of their own solutions with better alternatives available on the market. You are able to translate the strategic and tactical wishes of clients and researchers into BI solutions, and to integrate them effectively into the data architecture under your management.
Making use of your internal network and compass, as well as of big data, open data and social media, you will proactively look for, and gain access to, relevant data that has added value for the LEI and its researchers. There will be opportunities for you to participate in business- or research projects in the future.
The LEI, The Hague, The Netherlands
As a Business Intelligence Specialist, you will be working at the Datalab of the LEI in The Hague, a part of the Wageningen University & Research Centre. The unique data, models, and knowledge of this independent and internationally respected socioeconomic research institute assist clients in their policy- and decision-making, contributing ultimately to a more sustainable world. The LEI has 266 employees (66 of whom are PhD candidates) spread across locations in The Hague, Wageningen and Lelystad.
The Datalab (11 employees) supports the researchers of the LEI and its national and international research partners with data, models and software developed in-house – in fields ranging from the use of antibiotics in animal husbandry enterprises to international trade in agricultural products. Making use of its own data or of that of statistical and administrative agencies at home and abroad.
The LEI adds value by combining this data with analytical tools and its expert knowledge of how policies are created.
The Business Intelligence Specialist we’re looking for has completed at least a relevant technical university-level degree and has at least 3 years experience within the BI domain.
You possess massive amounts of knowledge on data warehousing, ETL, data management and analytics. In terms of technology, you know SQL Server and Microsoft SSIS/SSAS/SSRS like the back of your hand.
You’re a skilled communicator, with the ability to convince people who hold strong opinions of their own. Justified persistence is a quality that is much appreciated. As a Business Intelligence Specialist, you’re creative, analytical, and passion about problem-solving. Your written and spoken English is excellent. Knowing and understanding the Dutch language would be handy too.
A challenging job as Business Intelligence Specialist in an international environment with a varied task package in a fun and open working environment where you’ll be given the space for personal development. The gross salary lies between €2,972 and €4,618 per month on a full-time basis (36 hours), depending on your experience and level of education.
The LEI offers 23 holiday days and is flexible in terms of taking up compensatory leave (based on a 40-hour work week, these can add up to an extra 25 days). In addition to the regular 8% holiday pay, the LEI also offers a fixed end-of-year bonus of 3%. There are also generous leave regulations and an above-average employer’s contribution to the pension scheme.
